A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE LADY EAGLES OF GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 1996.

Whereas, the Lady Eagles of Greenwood High School captured the Class AAAA state basketball championship for 1996 by defeating the Lady Yellow Jackets of Irmo High School 75-54 on Friday, March 8, 1996, at Carolina Coliseum in Columbia; and

Whereas, it was the second state crown in girls basketball for Greenwood High School and was also the school's third consecutive title game; and

Whereas, the Lady Eagles finished the 1995-96 season with a superb 22-4 record and were guided by Head Coach Sheila Rhodes; and

Whereas, Greenwood's speed and experience clearly established the Lady Eagles as the class of South Carolina girls basketball; and

Whereas, the team's accomplishments are highly deserving of special recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Lady Eagles of Greenwood High School on winning the Class AAAA state basketball championship for 1996.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Lady Eagles basketball team of Greenwood High School, in care of Head Coach Sheila Rhodes.
