A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY OF MR. FRANK E. TIMMERMAN SR., OF EDGEFIELD, A DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADER AND FORMER MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE, UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Mr. Frank E. Timmerman Sr., one of Edgefield County's most distinguished business and civic leaders, at the age of ninety-six; and

Whereas, Mr. Timmerman grew up in Johnston where he attended Johnston High School and later attended Mars Hill Junior College and Clemson College. In 1928, he moved to Edgefield where he owned and operated Timmerman Motor Company for twenty years and was also a wholesale oil distributor, farmer, and timber and real estate businessman; and

Whereas, in addition to his business activities, he represented Edgefield County in the South Carolina Senate from 1957 to 1964 where he was a strong voice for rural South Carolina and for more effective and more efficient government while in the General Assembly; and

Whereas, this outstanding South Carolinian also served his community in countless civic and community endeavors and had a special love for the Edgefield First Baptist Church to which he was extremely devoted; and

Whereas, Frank Timmerman was above all a loving and faithful husband to his lovely wife and good father to his two children; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to extend their heartfelt condolences to his wife, children, other members of his family, and many friends, upon the death of this truly fine man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Frank E. Timmerman Sr., of Edgefield, a distinguished business and civic leader and former member of the South Carolina Senate, upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Lucy Scurry Timmerman.
