TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-39-165 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT BEGINNING WITH SCHOOL YEAR 1997-98, THERE SHALL BE FIVE CLASSIFICATIONS ACCORDING TO SCHOOL SIZE INTO WHICH EACH HIGH SCHOOL SHALL BE PLACED FOR PURPOSES OF INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC AND OTHER ACTIVITIES UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-39-165. Beginning with school year 1997-98, there shall be five classifications according to school size into which each high school shall be placed for purposes of interscholastic athletic and other activities under the jurisdiction of the South Carolina High School League."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
