TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 56-5-2925 SO AS TO PROHIBIT NEGLIGENT DRIVING AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Title 56, Chapter 5 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 56-5-2925. It is unlawful for a person to operate a motor vehicle without due care and caution for the safety of persons and property. A person who violates the provisions of this statute is guilty of negligent driving and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than one hundred dollars or imprisoned not more than thirty days. No points may be assessed for a violation of this section."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
