A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 28-2-250, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO APPRAISAL PANELS IN CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS, SO AS TO INCREASE THE COMPENSATION OF PANEL MEMBERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 28-2-250(A) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 28-2-250. (A) If the condemnor elects to proceed under this section and if the amount tendered in the Condemnation Notice is rejected, an appraisal panel must be established which shall determine an amount as just compensation for the property taken, as provided in this section. The condemnor shall bear the cost of the appraisal panel which must be a fee of not more than one six hundred dollars per day for each member plus the actual expenses, if any, of the panel incurred in performing its duties."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
