A BILL

TO PROHIBIT THE CITY OF AIKEN FROM USING OR EXPENDING ANY FUNDS DERIVED FROM FEES OR SERVICE CHARGES RECEIVED FROM THE OPERATION OF A MUNICIPAL UTILITY FOR ANY PURPOSE OTHER THAN THE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE UTILITY FROM WHICH THE FEES OR SERVICE CHARGES WERE DERIVED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The City of Aiken may not use or expend any funds derived from fees or service charges received from the operation of a municipal utility authorized to be constructed, operated, purchased, or acquired for any purpose other than the operation and maintenance of the utility from which the fees or service charges were derived.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
