A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 8-11-140, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MINIMUM WAGE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES AND PUBLIC SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS, SO AS TO INCREASE THE MINIMUM WAGE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES AND PUBLIC SCHOOL BUS DRIVERS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 8-11-140 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 8-11-140. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, effective March 1, 1978, and for the balance of fiscal year 1977-78, on or after the effective date of this section, no state employee or public school bus driver shall receive as compensation from the State less than two dollars and sixty-five cents five dollars and twenty-five cents per hour."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
