A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND BROOKLAND-CAYCE HIGH SCHOOL UPON BEING NAMED ONE OF THE BEST HIGH SCHOOLS IN AMERICA BY REDBOOK MAGAZINE IN ITS FIFTH ANNUAL AMERICA'S BEST SCHOOLS PROJECT.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that Brookland-Cayce High School was named one of the best high schools in America in Redbook magazine's America's Best Schools project; and

Whereas, in its fifth annual listing of America's Best Schools, Redbook magazine recognized one hundred fifty-five high schools in the United States for outstanding attributes and excellence in education. Brookland-Cayce is one of sixty-three schools to be recognized in the category of overall excellence; and

Whereas, the category of overall excellence included:

(1) classroom innovation;

(2) parent/community involvement;

(3) extracurricular activities;

(4) special needs programs;

(5) significant improvement; and

Whereas, at Brookland-Cayce students are offered a strong mix of intellectual challenges and stimulating extracurricular activities, and dedicated teachers and parents produce an atmosphere that ensures high academic performance; and

Whereas, the achievements of the faculty, staff, and students of this outstanding school bring deserved credit not only upon themselves but upon their county, city, and State as well; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend Brookland-Cayce High School upon its receipt of this truly outstanding award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Brookland-Cayce High School upon being named one of the best high schools in America by Redbook magazine in its fifth annual America's Best Schools project.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Barry Bolen.
