A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 12-21-2795 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE USE OF DEBIT CARDS IN ESTABLISHMENTS WHERE VIDEO GAMES WITH A FREE PLAY FEATURE ARE LOCATED AND TO PROVIDE A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 21 of Title 12 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 12-21-2795. It is unlawful for any business establishment which operates or allows the operation of video games with a free play feature which provide cash payouts to use or allow the use of customer debit cards. A person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more than two hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than sixty days. Each unlawful use of a debit card constitutes a separate violation."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
