STATEMENT OF ESTIMATED FISCAL IMPACT

1. Estimated Cost to State-First Year$ See Below

2. Estimated Cost to State-Annually Thereafter$ See Below

House Bill 3505 repeals Article 37, Chapter 5, Title 56, South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, relating to the inspection of vehicles.

If the vehicle inspection program is eliminated, cost savings to the Department of Public Safety is estimated at $1 million and 30.5 FTE positions which could be utilized in other programs within the Department of Public Safety.

This legislation would have no effect upon the cost of operations to the Department of Revenue.

Impact would result in the reduction to the general fund of approximately $1.5 million.
