COMMENDING DR. G. B. HODGE OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE SPARTANBURG COUNTY COMMISSION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION AND HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA SPARTANBURG.
Whereas, for approximately twenty-eight years, Dr. G. B. Hodge of Spartanburg County served as chairman of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education; and
Whereas, the commission, which more or less governs the University of South Carolina Spartanburg (USCS), has always acted as an advisory board, making sure the University gets the things that it needs and assisting in hiring new administrators and faculty members; and
Whereas, Dr. Hodge has now retired as commission chairman; and
Whereas, he is a recognized leader in the field of higher education, possessing vision and great insight, and has always worked tirelessly for excellence in higher education; and
Whereas, he is highly deserving of commendation for his dedication and excellent public service, and the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize him. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Dr. G. B. Hodge of Spartanburg County for his many years of outstanding and dedicated service as chairman of the Spartanburg County Commission for Higher Education and his exemplary service to the University of South Carolina Spartanburg.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Hodge.
