A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-29-165 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT EACH HIGH SCHOOL OF THIS STATE MUST OFFER FIRST-YEAR SPANISH AND SECOND-YEAR SPANISH ON CAMPUS AS UNITS WHICH MAY BE TAKEN FOR PURPOSES OF MEETING THE TWENTY UNIT REQUIREMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-29-165. Each high school of this State must offer first-year Spanish and second-year Spanish on campus as units which may be taken for purposes of meeting the twenty unit requirement for high school graduation as contained in Section 59-39-100."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
