A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-19-100 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IS DEEMED TO HAVE RESIGNED HIS SEAT WHEN HE FILES AS A CANDIDATE FOR AN OFFICE OF HONOR OR PROFIT FILLED BY A VOTE OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 2-19-100. When a member of the General Assembly files as a candidate for an office of honor or profit filled by a vote of the General Assembly, the member is deemed to have resigned his seat."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
