MEMORIALIZING CONGRESS TO CONTINUE FUNDING FOR THE UNITED STATES FISH HATCHERY IN OCONEE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, OR AT A MINIMUM TO ALLOW THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE OVER THE FISH HATCHERY AND OPERATE IT.
Whereas, Congress is considering closing the United States Fish Hatchery in Oconee County, South Carolina; and
Whereas, the closing of this fish hatchery would have a devastating impact on the States of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, their economies, and their citizens; and
Whereas, it is imperative that Congress continue the funding for the fish hatchery in Oconee County or, if it is impossible for this to be done, to wait and allow the State of South Carolina the opportunity to take over the hatchery and operate it. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, urges Congress to continue funding for the United States Fish Hatchery in Oconee County, South Carolina, or at a minimum to allow the State of South Carolina the opportunity to take over the fish hatchery and operate it.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, and the members of South Carolina's Congressional Delegation, all at Washington, D.C.
