A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES TO STUDY THE CHILD SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT GUIDELINES PROMULGATED BY THE DEPARTMENT AND TO REPORT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ON THE PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THE GUIDELINES, THE JUSTIFICATION FOR SUPPORT AMOUNTS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR REVISIONS TO ENHANCE THE EQUITY AND FAIRNESS OF THE GUIDELINES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The Department of Social Services shall study the child support guidelines promulgated by the department as Regulation 114-47 and shall report to the General Assembly before January 1, 1996. The report must include, but not be limited to, an explanation of the process undertaken in the development of the guidelines, the justification for the amount of support required under the guidelines, and recommendations for revisions to enhance the equity and fairness of the guidelines and the application of the guidelines.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
