TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 66 TO CHAPTER 3, TITLE 56, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL LICENSE PLATES FOR THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 56-3-7400. The department may issue special motor vehicle license plates to members of the Marine Corps League for private motor vehicles registered in their names. Only one plate may be issued to a person. The biennial fee for the special license plate is the same as the fee provided in Section 56-3-2020, plus an initial fee of fifteen dollars must be charged for issuance of the special license plate.
Section 56-3-7410. The special license plate must be the same size as regular motor vehicle license plates but must be of a distinctive design containing the Marine Corps emblem on the left side of the plate, the letters `USMC' appearing vertically down the right side of the plate, and `Semper Fi' across the bottom. The plate must be issued or revalidated biennially for the regular license period."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
