A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-13-240, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO ANNUAL RENEWAL OF COSMETOLOGISTS LICENSES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT APPLICANTS COMPLETE CERTAIN CONTINUING EDUCATION, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ANY PERSON WHO HAS HELD A LICENSE FOR AT LEAST TEN CONSECUTIVE YEARS MAY ONLY BE REQUIRED TO TAKE CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSES IN HEALTH-RELATED SUBJECTS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-13-240(1) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(1) The holder of any individual license issued by the board shall annually on such date as may be designated by the board, renew his or her license and pay the renewal fee and furnish proof to the board that he or she has completed continuing education approved by the board; provided, that any person who has held a license for at least ten consecutive years may only be required by the board to take continuing education courses in health-related subjects."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
