A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-1376 SO AS TO IMPOSE A PER CAPITA CAMPAIGN LIMIT ON EXPENDITURES BY A CANDIDATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-13-1376. Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, a candidate may not expend an amount which would be more than fifty cents for each person residing in the district from which he is elected according to the latest official United States Decennial Census."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
