A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-17-120, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PERMITS FOR DETECTIVE AND PRIVATE SECURITY AGENTS TO CARRY FIREARMS, SO AS TO DELETE THE PROVISION PROHIBITING ISSUANCE OF SUCH PERMITS TO PERSONS REGISTERED AS PRIVATE DETECTIVES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-17-120(D) of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 78 of 1991, is amended by deleting item D which reads:

"(D) Permits for carrying firearms must not be issued to persons registered as private detectives."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
