A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND CHARLES RANDOLPH DELK OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON HIS OVER TWENTY YEARS OF SERVICE AS JUDGE OF THE PONTIAC MAGISTRATE'S COURT AND TO WISH HIM GODSPEED AND GOOD HEALTH IN HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Charles Randolph Delk has served with honor and distinction as Judge of the Pontiac Magistrate's Court since his initial election and appointment in 1974; and

Whereas, Judge Delk has demonstrated both in the conduct of his duties as well as by his exemplary and outstanding contributions to his community a dedication and love for fairness, justice, and equity; and

Whereas, he began his life as a present from Santa Claus to his parents on December 25, 1936, and was reared in Northeast Richland County, graduating from Dentsville High School; and

Whereas, Judge Delk has owned and operated successfully a full service filling station for some thirty-two years, and it has become known over the years in the Pontiac community as a favorite place for folks to come together and discuss the affairs of government and politics; and

Whereas, he is one of the major sponsors and supporters of the legendary Pontiac Fourth of July family barbecue festivities; and

Whereas, Charles Randolph Delk also served as a deputy sheriff and then constable before assuming his duties as Magistrate, and this experience gave him a unique appreciation and understanding of law enforcement that assisted him in carrying out justice and maintaining law and order in the performance of his judicial duties; and

Whereas, Judge Delk has been blessed with two fine children--a daughter, Debra LeGrand, and a son, Randy Delk--and, along with his wonderful wife Carrie, share seven adoring grandchildren about whom they are happy to talk; and

Whereas, Judge Randolph Delk is now retiring as the Pontiac Magistrate and will be greatly missed by all. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate Judge Charles Randolph Delk of Richland County on his outstanding judicial career in public service for over twenty years as a Magistrate in Richland County and commend Judge Delk for bringing to his position and the legal system in which he served the highest sense of integrity, honor, and respect for both the law and individual rights and freedom.

Be it further resolved that the members of the General Assembly wish him Godspeed and improved health and many years of enjoyment in retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Judge Delk.
