A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE ANNUAL FAMILY-ORIENTED CELEBRATION OF BROTHERHOOD AND GOOD HUMOR, BUBBAFEST, AND TO ENCOURAGE SOUTH CAROLINIANS TO PARTICIPATE IN BUBBAFEST '95, SEPTEMBER 8 AND 9 AT MCKINNEY PARK IN WOODRUFF AND ENJOY THE SIGNATURE EVENT OF THE THIRD ANNUAL BUBBAFEST, THE BUBBA-Q COOK-OFF.

Whereas, BubbaFest '95 will be held September 8 and 9 at McKinney Park in Woodruff; and

Whereas, the Bubba-Q Cook-off, the signature event of the celebration of brotherhood and good humor, will be held to raise technical education scholarship funds for students entering area technical colleges; and

Whereas, the funds generated by the Bubba-Q Cook-off are administered by the Bubba Maurice Wilson Festival Foundation, a nonprofit organization that creates "Bubba Scholarships" for students pursuing a technical career; and

Whereas BubbaFest attracts approximately five to seven thousand people and has gained national and international attention for the past three years. In addition to the Bubba-Q Cook-off, the family-oriented festival offers the BubbaLympics team competition, BubbaBuddies, Bubba and Bubbette Contest, arts and crafts, a variety of music and entertainment, and great family fun for all ages; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to take this opportunity to note the world-renowned annual celebration of Bubbafest. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize the annual family-oriented celebration of brotherhood and good humor, BubbaFest, and encourage South Carolinians to participate in BubbaFest '95, September 8 and 9 at McKinney Park in Woodruff and enjoy the signature event of the third annual BubbaFest, the Bubba-Q Cook-off.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the BubbaFest board of directors and committee members.
