A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE KIWANIS CLUB OF ORANGEBURG ON SERVING THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE CITIZENS OF ORANGEBURG FOR FIFTY YEARS.

Whereas, the Kiwanis Club of Orangeburg was organized on May 21, 1945, and chartered by Kiwanis International on July 19, 1945; and

Whereas, this organization is celebrating its golden anniversary of faithful service to the State of South Carolina and the Orangeburg community by providing financial assistance to local charities and organizations; and

Whereas, the Kiwanis Club sponsors Key Clubs at three area high schools and provides annual scholarships to Key Club members; and

Whereas, the organization provides nursing scholarships, sends students to the 4-H Club Conference and the American Legion Boys State; and

Whereas, the Kiwanis Club sponsors Dixie Youth Baseball and the Citizen of the Year in the Orangeburg County Program; and

Whereas, the organization supports the South Carolina Head Injury Association, Carolinas District Foundation, the Kiwanis International Foundation, the Terrific Kids Program, the Super Student Programs at the area schools, Junior Achievement, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, and many other deserving recipients. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Kiwanis Club of Orangeburg on serving the State of South Carolina and the citizens of Orangeburg for fifty years.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. James B. Jackson, Jr., President of the Kiwanis Club of Orangeburg.
