TO RECOGNIZE MR. JOHN B. JOHNSTON, III, OF CHARLESTON UPON HIS UPCOMING INSTALLATION AS PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARKS ASSOCIATION CITIZEN-BOARD MEMBER BRANCH AND TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO RECREATION IN CHARLESTON, IN SOUTH CAROLINA, AND IN THE NATION.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that Mr. John B. Johnston, III, of Charleston will be installed in October as President of the National Recreation and Parks Association Citizen-Board Member Branch; and
Whereas, the Citizen-Board Member Branch represents citizens and the elected or appointed citizen members of local advisory and policy making bodies dealing with recreation, leisure, and parks agencies in the United States. It encompasses municipalities, special districts, counties, states, and military citizen board members; and
Whereas, John Johnston first became associated with the NRPA in 1985, became a board member of the Citizen-Board Member Branch in 1987, was selected vice president in 1993 and president-elect in 1994; and
Whereas, he has been very active in recreation in Charleston and South Carolina as chairman of the St. Andrews Parish Parks and Playground Commission and as a member of the South Carolina Recreation and Parks Association; and
Whereas, he is a successful businessman in Charleston as Director of Marketing for Clifton & Associates, and is a respected community leader who has made significant contributions to Charleston in a number of civic capacities; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding native South Carolinian upon his upcoming installation to this very prestigious office. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, hereby recognize Mr. John B. Johnston, III, of Charleston upon his upcoming installation as President of the National Recreation and Parks Association Citizen-Board Member Branch and commend him for his contributions to recreation in Charleston, in South Carolina, and in the nation.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. John B. Johnston, III.
