A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF MR. JOHN W. PARRISH, SR., OF WEST COLUMBIA, A PROMINENT SOUTH CAROLINA BUSINESS AND CIVIC LEADER, UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. John W. Parrish, Sr., of West Columbia on Saturday, May 27, 1995, at the age of seventy-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Parrish was a native of Georgia and was the founder and chairman of the board of The Loxcreen Company of West Columbia which makes aluminum and vinyl frame and trim products which are sold and shipped both nationally and internationally; and

Whereas, in addition to being a respected businessman as head of this very successful company, he also gave freely of his time and talents to his community. He was a founding board member of the Lexington Medical Center, financial chairman of the Indian Waters Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and was actively involved with the Epilepsy Association of the Midlands, a cause he took up after one of his family members was diagnosed with this disease; and

Whereas, seldom has a person contributed as much to his community and State as did this outstanding South Carolinian. He was above all a man of God, a devoted members of the West Side Baptist Church, and a person who practiced his faith and showed compassion for others every day of his life; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences and offer their heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children, and other members of his family and many friends upon his death. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr. John W. Parrish, Sr., of West Columbia, a prominent South Carolina business and civic leader, upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Johnnie D. Parrish.
