A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO THE BAMBERG-EHRHARDT HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM AND ITS COACHES FOR A TRULY OUTSTANDING SEASON BY WINNING THE 1995 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were delighted to learn that the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School Baseball Team recently won the 1995 Class AA State Championship; and

Whereas, the title was the Red Raiders' twelfth overall and the first to be clinched at home since 1976; and

Whereas, after playing in seven straight elimination games to reach the Class AA State Championship series, Bamberg-Ehrhardt (30-6) rallied in the final game of the series by defeating Mid-Carolina 7-3 to win its second straight Class AA title; and

Whereas, Head Coach David Horton, along with his assistant coaches Roland Deaton, Eddie Folk, and Greg Kearse, guided the Red Raiders to the pinnacle of success during the 1995 season after starting the season with five new players; and

Whereas, the many accolades and honors received by the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School Baseball Team exhibits outstanding talent, hard work, determination, and unity in the season just completed; and

Whereas, the strive for excellence in athletics has been met with great success for this Red Raiders team, but the lessons of this season will follow them in the years ahead and mold their lives. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School Baseball Team and their coaches for a truly outstanding season by winning the 1995 Class AA State Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach David Horton and Principal Raymond A. Burke.
