A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING JAMES M. "JIMMY" NEAL OF LANCASTER COUNTY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE LANCASTER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND WISHING HIM SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT AS PRINCIPAL OF ANDREW JACKSON HIGH SCHOOL.

Whereas, James M. "Jimmy" Neal has rendered thirty years of outstanding service to the Lancaster County School District; and

Whereas, he graduated from Kershaw High School in Lancaster County and earned his bachelor's degree in education at Clemson University and his master's degree in education administration at Winthrop; and

Whereas, he was hired directly out of school to teach sixth-grade geography at Kershaw Middle School in Lancaster County; and

Whereas, he spent five years at the middle school, teaching and coaching, and then moved on to Andrew Jackson High School; while there, he made his first mark by becoming the school's first head football coach; and

Whereas, he later moved to Lancaster High School, where he taught for fourteen years and headed up the county's first in-school suspension program; from there, he moved up to assistant principal at Lancaster High; eight years later, he "went home" to Andrew Jackson High School, this time as principal; and

Whereas, he is retiring this year from public education as principal of Andrew Jackson High School; and

Whereas, Jimmy Neal is respected, admired, and loved by all who know him; his dedication to public education has been exemplary; he is a true role model for professional educators and education administrators; and he is highly deserving of recognition, thanks, and commendation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends James M. "Jimmy" Neal of Lancaster County for his many years of dedicated service to the Lancaster County School District and wishes him success and happiness following his retirement as principal of Andrew Jackson High School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Neal.
