CONGRATULATING ST. JOHN NEWMANN CATHOLIC SCHOOL OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON ITS RECENT OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE IN THE "ODYSSEY OF THE MIND" STATE COMPETITION.
Whereas, Mrs. Gayle Mitchiner's team from St. John Newmann Catholic School of Richland County performed its vaudeville routine perfectly in the "Odyssey of the Mind" state competition on April 8, 1995; the students wrote the play and the lyrics for the songs they performed and even crafted a quilt which was used as a scenery backdrop; the team placed fifth in its division; and
Whereas, the school's Scientific Safari team negotiated its one-of-a-kind vehicle through a flawless skit in the competition and was awarded first place in its division; along with a trophy, the team won a berth in the World Competition scheduled to take place in Knoxville, Tennessee at the end of May; and
Whereas, the students coaches are Mrs. Mitchiner and Mrs. Tina Goodman and Mrs. Kristi Conklin; and
Whereas, the students and faculty of St. John Newmann Catholic School are to be commended for their fine performance which attests to the schools high standards and academic success. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates St. John Newmann Catholic School of Richland County on its recent outstanding performance in the "Odyssey of the Mind" state competition.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to St. John Newmann Catholic School.
