A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF DR. JAMES GORDON HALFORD, JR., OF ANDERSON WHO DIED WEDNESDAY, JUNE 7, 1995.

Whereas, Dr. James Gordon Halford, Jr., of Anderson died Wednesday, June 7, 1995; and

Whereas, Dr. Halford, the son of James Gordon and Annie Crouch Halford, was a graduate of Wofford College, Yale University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and was an Air Force flight surgeon during the Korean War; and

Whereas, Dr. Halford was the founding director of the Anderson Family Practice residency program where the medical building was named in his honor and the James Halford Primary Care Fund was established; and

Whereas, Dr. Halford was former professor of family medicine with the Medical University of South Carolina, and clinical associate professor of medicine with the University of South Carolina. The Halford Award for Leadership in Humane Education was established by the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium; and

Whereas, Dr. Halford received the Order of the Palmetto, 1989 Appalachia I Health District Volunteer Physician of the Year and Kentucky Colonel awards, was a former director of AnMed Family Medicine Associates of Williamston, and former foreign medical missionary; and

Whereas, Dr. Halford was board chairman of the South Carolina Association of Family Practice, former president of the South Carolina Academy of Family Practice, and a member of the Wofford College board of trustees, Anderson County, South Carolina and American Medical Associations, South Carolina and American Academies of Family Physicians, Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and St. John's United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the official board. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Dr. James Gordon Halford, Jr., of Anderson who died Wednesday, June 7, 1995.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Dr. James Gordon Halford, Jr.
