A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

HONORING THE THORNWELL HIGH SCHOOL "BIG DOG" FOOTBALL TEAM ON A MEMORABLE UNDEFEATED STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON FOR 1995.

Whereas, Thornwell High School posted a perfect 12-0 season record en route to winning the South Carolina Independent Schools AAA state championship in football for 1995; and

Whereas, the 1995 Thornwell "Big Dogs" were led by Head Coach Barry Cox and his outstanding coaching staff consisting of Matt Stewart, Joe Lewis, and Robert Jones; and

Whereas, before a large crowd of spectators, Thornwell defeated Orangeburg Prep 36-22 in the 1995 state championship game to put a cap on a perfect season; and

Whereas, although only eighteen players strong, the "Big Dogs" met adversities with determination, courage, skill, and a vision of accomplishment; and

Whereas, the "Big Dog" football team of Thornwell High School and the team's coaches are greatly deserving of recognition, and we wish the players and coaches continued success on the field of life where the attributes learned on the football field should serve them well in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor the Thornwell High School "Big Dog" football team on a memorable undefeated state championship season for 1995.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Thornwell High School football team and coaching staff.
