A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 20-7-2907 SO AS TO EXEMPT SUPERVISED VOLUNTEERS IN CHILD DAY CARE SETTINGS FROM REQUIRED FINGERPRINT REVIEWS AND TO PROVIDE THAT AN EMPLOYEE OR CAREGIVER IN A CHILD DAY CARE SETTING ONLY MUST OBTAIN A STATE FINGERPRINT REVIEW UPON A CHANGE OF EMPLOYMENT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 20-7-2907. Notwithstanding the provisions of this subarticle:

(1) A person who is a volunteer in a child day care setting who receives direct supervision while providing care to children does not have to undergo the fingerprint reviews required by this subarticle.

(2) An employee or caregiver in a child day care setting and who has undergone the fingerprint reviews required by this subarticle only is required to undergo the state fingerprint review when changing employment."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
