TO RECOGNIZE THE TOWN OF PORT ROYAL FOR HOSTING THE 1996 PORT ROYAL GOLD CHALLENGE MISTRAL CLASS FOR WINDSURFING AND TO ENCOURAGE THE TOWN TO HAVE ATHLETIC EVENTS SIMILAR TO THE GOLD CHALLENGE IN THE FUTURE.
Whereas, the Town of Port Royal will host the 1996 Port Royal Gold Challenge Mistral Class to be held April 19-21; and
Whereas, the participants in the 1996 Port Royal Gold Challenge Mistral Class will include about thirty Olympic windsurfers; and
Whereas, the American team will be among the sailors at the Gold Challenge; and
Whereas, the 1996 Port Royal Gold Challenge Mistral Class helps prepare athletes for the American windsurfing trials in Savannah, Georgia, before the 1996 Olympics. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Town of Port Royal for hosting the 1996 Port Royal Gold Challenge Mistral Class for windsurfing and wishes to encourage the Town to host athletic events similar to the Gold Challenge in the future.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Town of Port Royal.
