A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING CMI INDUSTRIES, INC., ON ITS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION.

Whereas, on February 1, 1896, Mercer Silas Bailey founded Clinton Cotton Mills in the Town of Clinton; and

Whereas, from that beginning one hundred years ago has grown CMI Industries, Inc., with manufacturing facilities in Clinton, corporate offices in Columbia, sales offices in New York City, and plants in Geneva, Alabama; Clarkesville, Georgia; Elkin and Greensboro, North Carolina; and Stuart, Virginia; and

Whereas, for a century Clinton Cotton Mills and later, CMI Industries, Inc., have served as the economic backbone of Laurens County in general and the Clinton community in particular; CMI has become a major industrial player in South Carolina and on a national basis as well; this organization has made countless contributions to the quality of life in the Laurens County area, touching progressively the lives of all of the citizens of that area; and

Whereas, it is with deep appreciation that we recognize CMI's contributions and its providing of job opportunities and economic stability to generations of South Carolinians and thousands of other people nationwide; CMI richly deserves to be saluted for its skilled and dedicated work force and for its leadership and vision which have built this great company into a major industry from a humble beginning in our midst a century ago. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates CMI Industries, Inc., on its centennial celebration.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to CMI Industries, Inc.
