A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE WILL EMERSON OF EASLEY, 1995-96 GOVERNOR OF PALMETTO BOYS STATE, FOR HIS SUCCESSFUL TENURE IN THIS OFFICE AND FOR HIS OUTSTANDING REPRESENTATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA WHILE SERVING AS GOVERNOR.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly took pride in the election last summer of Will Emerson of Easley as Governor of Palmetto Boys State; and

Whereas, Will Emerson is a student at Easley High School, and was chosen along with fifteen other Easley High School students to attend the Palmetto Boys State program. Boys from each high school in the State are chosen to attend the week-long program that emulates government at the local and state level; and

Whereas, elections are held at Boys State for every position from city council to governor, and students then run a mini-government for the remainder of the week; and

Whereas, the governors from forty-eight states then travel to Arlington, Virginia, each year to attend Boys Nation and simulate government at the national level; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate Will Emerson for his service as the 1995-96 Governor of Palmetto Boys State and for his many accomplishments as one of South Carolina's bright and upcoming leaders. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate Will Emerson of Easley, 1995-96 Governor of Palmetto Boys State, for his successful tenure in this office and for his outstanding representation of South Carolina while serving as Governor.
