TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-13-937 SO AS TO PROHIBIT A MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FROM PLEDGING TO ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO VOTE FOR A PARTICULAR CANDIDATE FOR AN OFFICE ELECTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN RETURN FOR THAT MEMBER'S PLEDGE TO VOTE FOR ANOTHER CANDIDATE FOR THAT OFFICE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 8-13-937. No member of the General Assembly may pledge to another member of the General Assembly to vote for a particular candidate for an office elected by the General Assembly in return for that member's pledge to vote for another candidate for that office."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
