TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-7-2027 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE SPARTANBURG REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER TO OBTAIN THE APPROVAL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION REPRESENTING THE CENTER'S SERVICE AREA BEFORE THE DIRECTORS MAY MERGE WITH, OR SELL OR LEASE ITS FACILITIES TO A FOR PROFIT CORPORATION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 15, Chapter 7, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 44-7-2027. The board of directors of the Spartanburg County Regional Medical Center may not contract to merge with or to sell or lease the center's facilities to a for profit corporation without first obtaining approval for the action by the legislative delegation representing the center's service area voting by delegation resolution."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
