A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. THOMAS J. JACKSON OF WEST COLUMBIA UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of the Mr. Thomas J. Jackson, on Saturday, March 16, 1996; at the age of eighty-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Jackson was a native of Orangeburg County and during his adult career was very involved in education. He retired from Richland School District One in 1974, and passed on his love of education to his children, one of whom now serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of Lexington County School District Two; and

Whereas, he was devoted to his late wife and each of their children to whom he gave freely of his time and talents. In addition, while residing in North, he served as Superintendent of the Sunday School of Maloney Baptist Church, and upon moving to West Columbia, he joined the Brookland Baptist Church where he served faithfully in the Sunday School and trustee ministry; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to his children and other members of his family upon the death of this truly fine man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Thomas J. Jackson of West Columbia upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his children Gloria Johnson, Audrey Richards, Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jackson, Sr., the Honorable Donald J. Jackson, Eugene E. Jackson, and Floyd R. Jackson.
