EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE WILLIAM R. "BILLY" DUBOSE, SR., OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the Honorable William R. "Billy" DuBose, Clarendon County magistrate and former mayor of Summerton, has died at the age of fifty-six; and
Whereas, Judge DuBose was a retired corporal with the South Carolina Wildlife Department, served as mayor of Summerton from 1972-75, and spent the better part of the last decade on the bench as a countywide magistrate, a position in which he was serving at the time of his death; and
Whereas, he was considered the "ultimate public servant" by his countless friends; and
Whereas, Judge DuBose was a beloved and respected community leader who was admired by all who knew him and who will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of the Honorable William R. "Billy" DuBose, Sr., of Clarendon County and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the DuBose family and to Mayor Charles A. Ridgeway of Summerton, Mr. Mark D. Myers, Town Administrator of Summerton, the Honorable Dwight L. Stewart, member, Summerton Town Council, the Honorable Pete Richardson, member, Summerton Town Council, the Honorable Noonie Stukes, member, Summerton Town Council, the Honorable Billy Hilton, member, Summerton Town Council, the Honorable Betty DuBose, member, Summerton Town Council, the Honorable Ralph Ardis, member, Summerton Town Council, and to Judge DuBose's fellow magistrates: Chief Judge Annelle Powell, Judge Willie L. Bethune, Judge Bobby Ray Floyd, Judge Murray Montgomery, Judge James Dingle, Judge Eugene A. Failmezger, Judge Joseph Postell, Judge Eddie Stuckey, and retired Judge Reuben Clark.
