RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING CARRIE SINKLER-PARKER OF ALCOLU ON RECEIVING THE FIRST ANNUAL MARY MCLEOD BETHUNE PERSEVERANCE, ACHIEVEMENT AND CHARITY AWARD.
Whereas, Carrie Sinkler-Parker of Alcolu has been chosen to receive, along with nine other outstanding women, the first annual Mary McLeod Bethune Perseverance, Achievement and Charity Award; and
Whereas, the award is to be presented by the African-American Women's Conference in Florence on Friday, May 24, 1996, at the conference's first annual Mary McLeod Bethune Memorial Honors Luncheon; and
Whereas, this award is given to those women who exemplify the traits that Dr. Mary Jane McLeod Bethune instilled by way of her valuable legacy; and
Whereas, we are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize Carrie Sinkler-Parker on the occasion of her being presented this prestigious award. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and congratulates Carrie Sinkler-Parker of Alcolu on receiving the first annual Mary McLeod Bethune Perseverance, Achievement and Charity Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Sinkler-Parker at Post Office Box 313, Alcolu, 29001.
