A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING MR. BERNARD L. BLACK OF SALUDA COUNTY FOR HIS DEDICATED, OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS DEPARTMENT ADJUTANT OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, DEPARTMENT OF SOUTH CAROLINA, FROM 1986 TO 1996.

Whereas, Mr. Bernard L. Black was born in Saluda County and was educated in the Saluda County Public Schools; and

Whereas, he served in the United States Air Force from 1951-55; and

Whereas, he is a member of Saluda Lodge 103 AFM, Past Master of Andrews Masonic Lodge 391 AFM, and a member of Butler Methodist Church, where he has served as a trustee, a delegate to the Annual Methodist Conference, and a member of the Church Board; and

Whereas, he joined Saluda Post 65 following his discharge from military service; he has served as Post Commander and as chairman of numerous Post committees; he has served as District Four Commander and Zone Vice Commander; he was Department Commander in 1983-84 and National Vice Commander in 1985-86; and

Whereas, he has served as Department Adjutant of The American Legion, Department of South Carolina, from 1986 to 1996, a post he is leaving this year; and

Whereas, he has rendered outstanding, dedicated service in that position and is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and commends Mr. Bernard L. Black of Saluda County for his dedicated, outstanding service as Department Adjutant of The American Legion, Department of South Carolina, from 1986 to 1996.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Black.
