A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF, ONE OF THIS STATE'S MOST PROMINENT EDUCATORS, CARROLL FREDERICK REAMES OF ANDERSON, WHO DIED FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1995.

Whereas, Mr. Carroll Frederick Reames of Anderson died Friday, February 10, 1995 at the Anderson Area Medical Center; and

Whereas, born in Bishopville, he was the son of the late John F. and Dora Davis Reames, preceded in death by a son, Carroll F. Reames, Jr., and the widower of Katherine Allen Reames; and

Whereas, Mr. Reames attended Furman University and the University of Georgia, earned his AB degree from Wofford College and his MA degree from the University of South Carolina, and was conferred a Doctor of Humanities from Wofford College in 1990; and

Whereas, Mr. Reames served as director of health and physical education for the Anderson city schools, teacher, coach and principal at Boys High School from 1927 to 1962, and was principal of Lakeside Junior High School from 1962 until his retirement in 1969; and

Whereas, Mr. Reames was a member of the South Carolina State Development Board, a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow, recipient of the Kiwanis Club of Anderson' Citizen of the Year Award, recipient of the Optimist Club of Anderson's Friend of the Boy Appreciation Award, was presented Teacher of the Year Award by the City of Anderson, Life Member Commissioner of the Lee County Soil and Water Conservation Commission and also Anderson Conservation District, former chairman of Administrative board and teacher of the Dick Ligon Bible Class of the St. John's United Methodist Church, past president of the Kiwanis International of Anderson, established the C. F. "Frog" Reames Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament, and was presented the Order of the Palmetto Award for the State of South Carolina by governor Carroll Campbell and the "Friends of Education" Award by the South Carolina School Boards Association; and

Whereas, surviving are his daughter, Caroline Reames Tolbert of Anderson; a brother, John Edward Reames of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Marion Galloway of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Mr. Carroll Frederick Reames of Anderson who died Friday, February 10, 1995.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Reames.
