A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 3, TITLE 2, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 2-3-22 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR THE MANNER IN WHICH THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY RECEIVE THEIR SALARY FOR A REGULAR SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 2 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 2-3-22. No member of the General Assembly may receive in any one calendar year, on account of service during the regular session of the General Assembly, any amount which exceeds the total amount appropriated for personal service for members of the General Assembly for the applicable fiscal year divided by one hundred seventy. This personal service compensation will be paid to each member in two equal installments, with the first payment occurring in the first week of the regular session and the second payment occurring in the first week of May of each year."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
