A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING SOUTH CAROLINA NATIVE RODNEY HUCKABY FOR RECEIVING TOP HONORS IN THIS YEAR'S STATE MIGRATORY WATERFOWL STAMP COMPETITION DURING THE SOUTHEASTERN WILDLIFE EXPOSITION AND FOR HAVING HIS PAINTING FEATURED ON THE 1995-96 STATE MIGRATORY WATERFOWL STAMP.

Whereas, Rodney Huckaby of Greer, South Carolina, painted a male and female Northern shoveler near the Hunting Island lighthouse which will be featured on the 1995-96 state migratory waterfowl stamp, required of South Carolina duck hunters, and prized by stamp collectors; and

Whereas, over the past four years, Rodney Huckaby has entered the South Carolina competition and has placed in the top four each time and placed eighth in the nationally acclaimed Federal Duck Stamp contest in 1993; and

Whereas, he has been painting all of his life, carefully studying his subjects, and going on location to observe the birds and their environment; and

Whereas, Rodney Huckaby has furthered his career as an artist through many hours of research, insight, and dedication; and

Whereas, the proceeds of migratory waterfowl stamp sales are used solely to fund waterfowl conservation projects in South Carolina during which, over the past fourteen years, the stamp and print program has raised more than three and one-half million dollars for the waterfowl projects. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express congratulations to Rodney Huckaby for the selection of his painting for the 1995-96 state migratory waterfowl stamp and for his outstanding ability as an artist and dedication to South Carolina wildlife.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Rodney Huckaby.
