A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING DR. LEE A. VICKERS ON HIS INAUGURATION AS FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY'S THIRD PRESIDENT AND TO WISH HIM, HIS FAMILY, AND THE FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY MUCH FUTURE SUCCESS.

Whereas, Dr. Lee A. Vickers will be inaugurated as Francis Marion University's third President on April 21, 1995; and

Whereas, Dr. Vickers distinguished himself as President for sixteen years, Executive Vice President for three years, Vice President of Academic Affairs for two years, and Dean of Academic Affairs and Administration for two years at Lewis-Clark State College before accepting the challenge of coming to South Carolina and leading Francis Marion University; and

Whereas, he brings a strong academic background to the office of the President having received both his undergraduate and Masters degrees from Adams State College and his Doctorate from the University of Wyoming; and

Whereas, Dr. Vickers has actively participated in many professional activities, including the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the Western Interstate Commission on Higher Education, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, the International Association of University Presidents, and the South Carolina Research Authority; and

Whereas, he brings to South Carolina and Francis Marion University his wife, who has received national recognition for her work in the fields of art, historic preservation, and conservation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Dr. Lee A. Vickers on his inauguration as Francis Marion University's third President and wish him, his wife, and the Francis Marion University community much future success.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Lee Vickers, President of Francis Marion University.
