RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING THE ROTARY CLUB OF CAYCE, LEXINGTON COUNTY, ON ITS FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND COMMENDING THIS OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATION FOR ITS SERVICE AND COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS OVER THE LAST FOUR DECADES.
Whereas, on May 16, 1955, the Five Points Rotary Club of Columbia sponsored the existence of the Rotary Club of Cayce as the third club to be so established in the Columbia area; and
Whereas, Rotary was organized for the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service and for the development of high ethical standards in business and professions and the dignifying of each Rotarian in his occupation as an opportunity to serve society; and
Whereas, Rotary was also founded for the application of the ideal of service by Rotarians to their personal, business, and community life and for the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service; and
Whereas, the Rotary Club of Cayce has faithfully supported the ideals of Rotary International, which now has 27,370 clubs in 150 countries and whose motto exemplifies its existence --"Service Above Self"; and
Whereas, over the years, the Rotary Club of Cayce has supported and contributed to education through service on school boards, giving recognition to outstanding students monthly from area schools, contributing thousands of dollars to local students for continuing education, and supporting the exchange of students from other countries to share in the community environment; and
Whereas, for forty years the Cayce club has contributed to the quality of life in the community which it serves; and
Whereas, the Cayce club is highly deserving of congratulations and sincere wishes for good luck and good fortune in the years ahead for its continued service to the citizens and community of which the club is such a vital part. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and salutes the Rotary Club of Cayce, Lexington County, on its fortieth anniversary and commends this outstanding organization for its service and community contributions over the last four decades.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Rotary Club of Cayce.
