Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Our Father God, with a new day more opportunities come from Your good and gracious hand. Keep us aware that each of us has an important part to play in the business of this day. As we go forward in it, may its fleeting hours remind us that life is too short to be little. So upon those who have been entrusted with leadership in government, pour, we pray, a double portion of Your guidance and wisdom. Make us worthy of the past and equal to the present.

Undergird us with Your strength, and keep clear before us Your beckoning hand. We pray to a good and gracious God. Amen.

The House assembled at 12:00 Noon.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Our Father God, Who knows every secret of our hearts - all that we fear and all for which we hope - draw near to us in these moments of prayer and remain close to us throughout this day. Compel us to be fair and just in all our dealings. Make our motives above suspicion. Cause us to make our word our bond. Let us be kind in our criticism of others and slow to judge, knowing that some day we will be judged by Him to Whom all hearts are open and from Whom no secrets are hidden.

So be with us this day and every day as we travel the journey of life. Amen.
