A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO DR. LEX WALTERS, PRESIDENT OF PIEDMONT TECHNICAL COLLEGE, ON THE OCCASION OF BEING SELECTED A WINNER OF THE 1997 AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGES' (AACC) PARNELL TECH PREP NATIONAL ASSOCIATE DEGREE AWARD ON APRIL 14, 1997.

Whereas, the members of the Senate have learned that Dr. Lex Walters received the American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) Parnell Tech Prep National Associate Degree Award in Anaheim, California, on April 14, 1997, for Piedmont Technical College's Tech Prep initiative; and

Whereas, Dr. Walters' hard work and dedication served to make Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, South Carolina, one of only three technical colleges recognized throughout the nation; and

Whereas, Dr. Walters continues to set new standards in his field and has become a role model for the future and current leaders in the education profession; and

Whereas, Dr. Walters has made and continues to make significant contributions on the behalf of students, parents, professors and business leaders throughout our State and nation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, publicly extend congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Lex Walters for receiving the 1997 American Association of Community Colleges' (AACC) Parnell Tech Prep National Associate Degree Award for his outstanding support of the Tech Prep initiative at Piedmont Technical College.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Lex Walters.
