A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-3-230, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION, SO AS TO REQUIRE THE SELLER, RATHER THAN THE PURCHASER, OF NEWLY ACQUIRED VEHICLES TO REGISTER AND LICENSE SUCH VEHICLES.

Every application must bear the signature of the owner.

(B) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection A, the seller of a vehicle subject to the provisions of this section shall, upon completion of the sale, make application to the department for registration and licensure of the vehicle in the name of the new owner."
