A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE TALLY AND FLORENCE ADAMS, THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN, OF EASTOVER ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR SELECTION AS THE 1998 "OUTSTANDING NATIONAL BLACK FAMILY" ON MARCH 5, 1998, AT THE 12TH ANNUAL NATIONAL BLACK FAMILY SUMMIT IN MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that Tally and Florence Adams, their children and grandchildren, have been selected as the "Outstanding National Black Family" for 1998; and

Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams joyfully celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in February and have always believed in dedication to family, hard work and education; and

Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams lovingly raised ten children and then generously brought seven foster children to raise in their home and now have twenty-seven grandchildren; and

Whereas, seven of their ten children earned degrees from the University of South Carolina, two earned degrees from Midlands Technical College and one earned a degree from Limestone College; and

Whereas, Tally and Florence Adams raised their family to "make no excuses" and to "never take 'no' for an answer"; and

Whereas, the Adams children agree that their father's work ethic and calm demeanor and their mother's warmth and persistence were traits that allowed them to be successful. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, publicly congratulate the Adams family, their children and grandchildren, on the occasion of their selection as the 1998 "Outstanding National Black Family" on March 5, 1998.
