A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-25-125 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT FOREIGN NATIONALS MAY BE EMPLOYED AS TEACHERS BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF THIS STATE TO TEACH THEIR NATIVE LANGUAGE IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE DISTRICT IF THEY MEET FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-25-125. Foreign nationals may be employed as teachers by the school districts of this State to teach their native language in the public schools of the district if they meet federal requirements and other requirements of the State Board of Education."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
