TO CONGRATULATE THE BLUE RIDGE COUNCIL OF THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA UPON ITS SEVENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO COMMEND THE COUNCIL'S VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORTERS FOR PROVIDING THE SCOUTING PROGRAM TO THE YOUTH OF THE UPSTATE.
Whereas, the Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America was organized in November of 1923 and has consistently espoused the importance of character, citizenship, and personal development; and
Whereas, the Blue Ridge Council has long been recognized as one of the leading Boy Scout councils in the Southeast and remains committed to the ideals that have characterized scouting's history; and
Whereas, the council covers eight counties in the Upstate of South Carolina and has more than 17,000 youth and adults who participate in the scouting movement; and
Whereas, the scouting volunteers and supporters are to be commended for their outstanding service and devotion to the council's youth. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly congratulate the Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America upon its seventy-fifth anniversary and commend the council's volunteers and supporters for providing the scouting program to the youth of the Upstate and to further applaud the council for adhering to the values of duty, honor, patriotism, high ethical and moral standards, and personal pride which are critical to character development and essential to becoming a productive member of society.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Blue Ridge Council in care of its scout executive, Mr. Pat Currie.
